The App Experiences team at Life360 is leading the transformation of our core mobile application into a more dynamic, intuitive, and emotionally engaging product for families. We own the foundational in-app surfaces, such as navigation, home experiences, engagement loops, and contextual UI, that shape how members interact with Life360 every day.
Our mission is to increase the depth and utility of the app, helping members discover value faster and return more frequently. We are driving the overhaul of our information architecture and defining a new north star user experience, with a focus on clarity, speed, and delight. Working closely with design, product, and platform teams, we’re building the systems and experiences that turn Life360 into the everyday operating system for modern families.

Life360 is embarking on a major redesign of our mobile application and expansion of our app into new features and align with our physical product and marketing strategy. We are rebuilding our core app experiences and re-architecting our information architecture to deliver a product that’s faster, more useful, and emotionally resonant for tens of millions of families worldwide. As a Staff Android Engineer on the Experiences team, you will be at the heart of this transformation, collaborating directly with the design team as they shape this future experience.
This role combines deep product engineering with a platform mindset. You’ll design and build foundational in-app experiences that deepen engagement and expand the utility of Life360 for every member. Focusing on areas such as navigation, home surfaces, contextual UI, and personalized content entry points. Your work will directly shape how families interact with the app daily and help define the blueprint for a new era of experience at Life360.
This role is instrumental in delivering Life360’s north star: to be the #1 brand that makes everyday family life better through a more connected, insightful, and delightful product experience.
For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $149,500 to $245,000 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $195,500 to $230,000 CAD. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You’ll Do
- Build core application experiences that increase the utility and emotional resonance of Life360 for millions of members.
- Lead development of a modern, scalable UX architecture, aligned with a reimagined information architecture and supporting server-driven, personalized content delivery.
- Collaborate with Design and Product to evolve how members move through and experience the app, from onboarding to daily use, ensuring fast, intuitive, and delightful interaction patterns.
- Develop reusable, high-performance components and tools that unlock faster experimentation, iteration, and cross-team collaboration.
- Champion engineering excellence, app performance, and reliability, particularly in the context of complex, location-driven mobile applications.
- Mentor and lead engineers across the team to elevate code quality, architectural decision-making, and execution velocity.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience building consumer-facing Android applications at scale, ideally for high-MAU products.
- Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development (Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Architecture Components).
- Track record of building and leading complex UI systems with a focus on performance, modularity, scalability, and accessibility.
- Experience with server-driven UI frameworks, remote config, and dynamic content rendering.
- Strong understanding of app architecture, lifecycle management, dependency injection, and navigation paradigms.
- Passion for design systems, intuitive design, seamless animations, and building products that delight users at scale.
Bonus
- Experience supporting app redesigns or architecture migrations.
- Experience creating UI flexible systems that scale to hundreds of engineers.
- Exposure to shaders and other low-level rendering development.
- Background in location-aware or contextual apps.
