Senior Data Engineer, Client Group
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in building and scaling the data foundation for our high-growth company. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver scalable solutions that optimize operations and data quality, support complex client needs, and expand data access to drive growth. Your work will directly enhance our data accuracy, auditability, and operational efficiency by transforming fragmented, manual processes into robust, automated data products. This role requires a hands-on approach to solving complex data challenges that have a direct impact on the company's data reporting and scalability.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain ELT data pipelines to ensure reliable and efficient data processing. Our tools include dbt, Dagster, and GCP.
Build and optimize data models to support analytics and reporting needs.
Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to create and maintain self-service tools that provide operational and analytical services.
Ensure data quality and integrity through testing, validation, and documentation.
Monitor and improve database performance, optimizing queries and warehouse costs. Our analytics database lives on BigQuery.
Automate and improve our data pipeline workflows for scalability and efficiency.
Work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to understand data requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
Must-Haves
5–8 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar field.
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery), data transformation tools (e.g., dbt), and workflow orchestration (e.g., Dagster or Airflow).
Experience designing and maintaining robust ELT pipelines and scalable data models.
Familiarity with self-service analytics tools (e.g., Looker) and stakeholder collaboration.
Proven ability to solve complex problems and deliver data solutions that drive business impact.

Virta has a location based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
